Workshop 8
Conducting Student-Driven Interviews: Practical Strategies for Involving
Students in School Solutions
Expanding on his most recent book,
Conducting Student-Driven
Interviews (Routledge Press, 2013), Dr. Murphy provides step-by-step
guidelines along with practical skills and strategies for conducting
student-driven interviews with preschool through high school students
who experience a variety of school problems. The workshop illustrates
language and questioning strategies aimed at connecting with
hard-to-reach students, increasing student investment in school
solutions, creating customized interventions “one student at time,” and
obtaining ongoing student feedback. Videotaped and live demonstrations,
experiential exercises, and practice activities are used to increase the
practical application of workshop techniques the very next day on the
job. This training will serve as a valuable
roadmap in your efforts to actively involve students in the search for
solutions to school behavior problems. |
